Committees

Richmond City Council works through a standing committee structure designed to provide greater citizen involvement and knowledge of government, and to provide for greater efficiency in the use of Council resources. The five standing committees are Organizational Development; Finance; Public Safety; Land Use, Housing and Transportation; Health and Human Services, and Government Operations. Each committee meets at least monthly in open session.

In addition, the Office of the City Auditor, the City Assessor and the City Attorney are subordinate to City Council.

Kathy Graziano serves as Chair of the Land Use, Housing and Transportation Committee, represents Council on the Richmond Planning Commission, and serves as member of the Finance Committee and as an alternate to the Health and Human Services Committee.

The Finance Committee provides review of all legislation relating to spending and revenues, including the City Budget.  It may also request and receive reports from the Administration on specific issues relating to the financial operation of the city government.

The Land Use, Housing and Transportation Committee reviews all legislation relating to land use planning and administration, infrastructure, transportation, including mass transit, and future development of the city. It may, upon referral by the Council Preident, also review recommendations from the Planning Commission.
